Farmers are rapidly adopting Smartphone technology.
A new Successful Farming magazine study found 94 percent of farmers own a mobile phone or Smartphone -- 11 percent higher than the general public. Although the study found farmers access the internet less frequently through their mobile devices, they access their email more frequently than their non-farm counterparts.
In another study, this one by the National Association of Farm Broadcasting, 18 percent of farmers surveyed (those with more than $100,000 gross farm income) use mobile internet to obtain ag information, while 14 percent use social media to access ag information. The NAFB study is expected to be released at the NAFB Convention November 11 in Kansas City.
