Trying to break a bad habit but having trouble sticking to the behavior change? FS Marketing Conference keynote speaker Marshall Goldsmith shared a technique that worked for him when he was trying to change a bad habit. Each time he said or did something negative, he paid a self-imposed fine until he had broken himself of that behavior.
To encourage GROWMARK System employees to do the same, Goldsmith randomly called on Greg Rohman of Gold Star FS to name a charity he supports. Then Goldsmith asked all attendees who wanted to break the negativity habit to pull out a dollar (or more) and donate it to Rohman's chosen charity.
In total, more than $250 was collected by the end of the conference. The money was donated to the Hudson, Wis. Walk for MS, a fundraising event for the National MS Society. Rohman has three family members affected by multiple sclerosis, and his family is very active in supporting research and awareness efforts.
Thank you to all who donated at Marketing Conference! Next time you are struggling to change a habit, give Goldsmith's technique a try - it's amazing how quickly the money can add up (and how quickly you can improve yourself)!
