Despite product shortages and concerns about security and the economy during World War II, Illinois Farm Supply continued to serve customers' needs.

The years of World War II were challenging and difficult times for Illinois Farm Supply. Demand for farm supplies increased as farmers were called upon to increase production. Manpower was drained away by military service and competition with other companies for workers. Rationing of critical materials challenged supply. Restrictions were imposed on production and transportation facilities. Government red tape made conducting business very difficult. But through it all, Illinois Farm Supply and its member cooperatives emerged prosperous and were well positioned to take advantage of the expanded post war market.

The strategy to partner with other cooperatives to assure a reliable and competitive source of supply in key product areas began with feed. This approach later expanded to fertilizer and petroleum products.
