GROWMARK Honors Ag Leaders
Two leaders in the renewable energy industry were honored
with “Friend of GROWMARK” awards. Bob Dinneen of the
Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) and Joe Jobe of the
National Biodiesel Board (NBB) were recognized at the
GROWMARK annual meeting in Chicago.
“The award is given to individuals and organizations for
their contributions to the well-being of cooperatives or
other facets of agriculture,” said Jim Hoyt, GROWMARK vice
president of strategic planning and corporate services.
Dinneen is the ethanol industry’s leading advocate in
Washington D.C. He has presented testimony before Congress
and other federal agencies on numerous occasions and
represented the ethanol industry’s interests at state,
national, and international forums. He led the association’s
effort to build coalitions with the industy’s petroleum
customers as well as transportation and environmental groups
in order to provide for marketplace growth for the industry.
These coalitions have resulted in an historic Renewable
Fuels Standard (RFS) agreement and passage of the Volumetric
Ethanol Excise Tax Credit (VEETC).
Jobe has been with the National Biodiesel Board for 10
years. He has served as the principle investigator for the
$2.2 million biodiesel health effects testing program and is
a champion for biodiesel research, development, and
promotion. The NBB represents the biodiesel industry as the
coordinating body for biodiesel research and development in
the United States. Its members include feedstock producers
and processors, soybean commodity boards, biodiesel
suppliers, and fuel marketers and distributors.
The Friend of GROWMARK award was established in 1989 to
recognize outstanding leadership and commitment to
agriculture, and friendship to the GROWMARK System. Since
its inception, more than 25 individuals and organizations
have been honored.
